T-Shirt Printing In Brooklyn: Construction Companies
If you are a screen printer, work for a screen printing company, or looking to get into the t-shirt printing field I would defiantly advise you to target some construction companies. Gaining a customer who has a company in the construction, plumbing, electric, or even pest control field is in fact gaining a repeating customer – They just keep ordering. Also, when they order, the t-shirts and hoodies they design are so simple and easy to print, it’s a no brainer.
Order large amounts:
Think about it in the eyes of a contractor; They wake up in the morning, brush their teeth and throw on some clothes. Wouldn’t it be a good idea to make sure those clothes, specifically the t-shirt and sweatshirt have some kind of advertisement printed on them? So contractors order t-shirts, hoodies and various other apparel screen printed with their logo and information on them. Now figure this contractor is the owner of the company and he has 15 employees working for him, he would of course want all 15 of these employees wearing the company branded uniforms. This way he just multiplied his exposure by 15 times! So suppose he now has to order at least one t-shirt and hoodie for every day of the week, time the 15 employees he has working for him – that’s over 200 pieces being printed!
The thing I love with contractors and owners of construction companies is how many times they come back and order from you. Why do I say this you may ask? Well the reason is because they fire and hire employees very frequently. Lets just say and employee received 7 hoodies and 7 t-shirts, but quit two weeks into working – you aren’t going to take his uniform back from him. In addition, think about how much dirt is going to be accumulated on the garments. The employees are dealing with construction materials on a daily basis and either dirty, or damage their uniforms pretty frequently. As a result the contractor tends to order uniforms pretty frequently.
Simple and easy designs:
We’ve screen printed t-shirts and other apparel for many contractors over the years and I can tell you that most of them are a pleasure to deal with, easy going and almost always choose a very basic design. Isn’t it every screen printers dream to have an order for 72-144 shirts with a front left chest and a full back using black ink? I’ve printed so many jobs where the shirts are safety green, or safety orange with black ink front and back. Another common color combination is navy colored t-shirts with white ink front and back, again very simple and easy to print, as you can see in the image to the right. Once in a while through, you will get the once customer who has a really nice and intricate design with 3-4 colors that need to be printed. I am not saying that’s a bad thing, god for bid we love every customer the same way, I am just pointing out that not all orders are as easy to print.
The Brooklyn t-shirt printing industry has vastly grown over the year and much of the business being distributed around the screen printing companies is coming from contractors, electricians, plumbers and exterminators. Screen Printing Brooklyn Mixed Martial Arts T-shirts: Nick Diaz & Coach Terry Gold
As a young guy living in Brooklyn New York myself, I always enjoy printing shirts for fellow Brooklynites, that’s why whenever we screen print t-shirts for Brooklyn Mixed Martial Arts I tend to get excited.
Two weeks ago I was contacted by Terry Gold, the owner of Brooklyn MMA, and was informed that he is hosting a seminar for Nick Diaz at his Mixed Martial Arts gym in Brooklyn New York. Truthfully I don’t know too much about MMA and have no idea who Nick Diaz is so I had to do a little research. A little Googling lead me to find that he is a professional MMA fighter signed on with the Ultimate Fighting Championship AKA the UFC. Nick Diaz was raised in Stockton CA and is in the Middleweight Devision. Terry mentioned that him and Nick are interested in designing t-shirts that can be sold and signed at this event, and that’s where me and my team come into play. We are a local screen printing company in Brooklyn New York and we are good at what we do! So right away we went into design mode, along with Terry who actually supplied the design idea. The design he came up with is a simple block font in the front reading “Nick Diaz – 718 – Brooklyn MMA” and in the back “Stockton to Brooklyn”. I thought this was a pretty sweet design, it shows how Nick is representing not only his hometown, but also the good old Brooklyn!
The seminar with Nick Diaz will be held on November 14th at 8PM at Brooklyn Mixed Martial Arts, located at 5012 Avenue N, Brooklyn NY 11234 (that’s right.. next door to us). You can find out more information about the seminar by visiting Brooklyn MMA online or calling them via phone. The shirts are currently being sold in their gym so hurry up and purchase yours before they run out!
If you are interested in designing and screen printing some shirts for your upcoming event, don’t hesitate to contact us. We are a Brooklyn screen printing company here to serve our community.
Screen Printing T-Shirts & Hoodies For Companies Around Brooklyn
Brooklyn is an interesting city, there is so much that goes on here and this is why we love that our screen printing shop is located in Brooklyn. Here at our screen printing shop we meet new people and print jobs for various businesses every day, and we love doing so! One of the best benefits to working in Brooklyn is the diversity of the companies we are able to work with, from contractors, to gyms to sports clubs. We have recently completed two jobs, which we are proud of, for the Aviator Sports Club and Harbor Fitness.
Aviator Sports Club is a complex located on Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn New York that kids and adults come to play basketball, football, ice hockey, soccer and many other sports. They also have a youth camp during the summer and plenty of after school activities during the week. Growing up, I always wen to The Aviator, whether it was to play basketball, or just ice skate. Even my high school senior day trip started off at The Aviator, which was lots of fun with all of my classmates. The shirts and hoodies we screen printed for them are pretty basic and not what excited me, a logo in white ink on the left chest and a STAFF in block font screen printed on the back. What excited me was that I was able to work with a client that has been in my life since such a young age.
Harbor Fitness, on the other hand, is a gym with multiple locations all over Brooklyn. They have locations inPark Slope, Marine Park, Bay Ridge and Mill Basin and are the new leaders in the gym industry. They are celebrating their 25 year anniversary this year which calls for some new custom printed hoodies. We recently screen printed for them hoodies and sweatshirts with a cool 25 year anniversary Harbor Fitness logo on front and an American Flag/Barbell combination on back. As you can see in the image to the right, this is a pretty sweet hoodie and to be honest I would wear it myself. What’s cool about screen printing for Harbor Fitness is that they are located in Brooklyn and all of their merchandise reflects that. Just like our catchphrase is “Brooklyn Screen Printing” their’s is “Brooklyn’s Gym” – representing the Brooklyn borough.
We love to print new jobs and meet new clients day to day, so if you are from Brooklyn and searching online for “screen printing company near me“. Stop searching, you arrived to the right place. our friendly staff and experienced screen printers are here to get the job done for you in a timely manner. Customers service, high quality printing and quick turn around time is our priority!
Screen Printing Trends: Keeping Up
Screen printing must evolve with the times and the location of your business. So keeping up with popular trends is a great way to make yourself noticed. The only challenge is that no one really knows what will become trendy. It’s always a good idea to look around your area and to look at what people are wearing. As a designer it is a great way to come up with new ideas and to see what new techniques others are utilizing.
Foil in printing had become very popular and we stocked up on a lot of gold and silver foil. Then just as suddenly Puff ink became the new popular thing. A trendy Screen printer can attract local business very well. Style is very important to gaining a repeat customer. When you have a customer who returns to get something new being able to help them to get something Screen printed that is more modern makes a great impression on you as a creative.
Trends can also just be useful time saving things you pick up from other screen printers. That is why it is also good to have an establish network around you. The most helpful thing to any Screen printer is the network. There are times of the year where you will have a slowdown in customers. While ideally that should not be the case, it is. But a strong network is helpful in keeping you up to date with what is new. There may be a new ink that performs cleaner and stronger then what you already have. It helps credibility of your business when you have a walk-in or an over the phone conversation and you are asked about a certain garment or technique, and you are better able to explain it to that customer.
Being a Brooklyn based Screen Printing Company
we have so many varying styles from Urban to Hipster and all the in between. We have learned to work between the styles. Working with many Urban style companies we have learned more about foiling and Metallic ink. Simple yet Graphic art that screams it’s statement.
Did you recently open a new company, business, or startup? Are you looking for a way to get your name out there?
We’ll what I always suggest to my customers is free branded giveaways and what better to give out than a custom t shirt printed with your logo on it. I always tell my customers, customized t-shirts are like a walking billboard. Imagine you print up 50 shirts and hand them out to people over 50 cities. Now every time that person will walk around that city, your company is being advertised. Now take that and multiply it by the 50 people you gave those t-shirts to, you now have exposure in over 50 (moving) locations!
Now the question is what type of shirt should you get? Should you spend tons of money and get a great quality t-shirt? Pr should you pick the simplest shirt with the most basic print in order to save money? We’ll here is my suggestion, in simple words save money! But it’s a bit more complicated than that. On the one hand you want to save all the money you can – this way you can order the most possible shirts which will allow you to gain the most possible exposure. But on the other hand, you want to get some good quality t-shirts in order to keep your brand reputation up and have people notice your brand. So I think it’s best to choose a good brand shirt that is still affordable, something like the Anvil 980. This shirt is made of a soft style ring spun cotton, this gives off a very soft feeling to the shirt. It also has a very European cut, where the shirt hugs the body rather than being a boxy cut. Then I would print just a single color imprint on both sides of the shirt. This would give off advertisement in the front and rear of the shirt as well.
Hope this helps!
When ordering custom shirts customers are always asking for better quality shirts as well as many other questions. But is it really worth it to invest in a better types of garments? The answer to this is really that it depends on what the shirts are being used for.
If you are ordering the t-shirts as a promotional giveaway in effort to advertise your business, then of course the less money spent for the most exposure the better. Therefore pick the cheapest shirt with the least amount of ink colors bring printed on it and save yourself some money. T-shirts are a walk billboard, so regardless of whether or not the shirts are rough, soft, big, or small your message will still get across.
Now if you are trying to start a clothing line or looking to order garments for your retail store, I would definitely suggest to go with a higher quality shirt. At the end of the day we’re all in it to make money, so it is important to look at the numbers associated with the shirts. A customer comes in and places an order for a basic Gildan t-shirt with a 1-color front imprint and tag print on the inside neck area. He pays just about $7-$9 per each t-shirt and can probably retail it for $15, maybe $20 if the brand is already built and there is a demand for the product. On the other hand, take for example a Next Level Apparel or Bella Canvas t-shirt with the same 1-color front and tag print on the inner neck area. You might end up paying closer to $9-$11, but the retail markup is higher because the shirt is a much better and softer feeling shirt. The end user would actually pay more for a higher quality garment, probably around $23-$30 depending on the brand. So in essence, if you are an owner of a retail store, clothing line, or trying to start a line I would most defiantly suggest to try either a Next Level Apparel shirt, or Bella Canvas shirt.
Next time you stop by your local screen printing company, ask them to show you a Next Level Apparel t-shirt and you will see what I mean.
Screen Printing NYC
The simple answer to this question is YES, if the price is right we can do anything! But I will briefly explain the process and suggest what I would do in this case.
If you take a look at a picture you will notice there are an enormous amount of colors in the picture. That is because the picture is printed using a CMYK printer which really just prints dots in either Cyan, Magenta, Yellow & Black and tricks your eyes into believing there are plenty of colors. This same process can also be done to print images onto t-shirts and other garments.
CMYK printing works by arranging the 4 basic colors in different patterns to give an illusion of various different colors. In screen printing it would require 4 screens with a 305 mesh count on them as well as a very accurate registration system. If one of the colors are just the slightest bit off, the print will look way off. In addition, the artwork would need to be separated properly in photoshop with each color in a different halftone angle. This is a long and tedious process, which is why we tell our customers that we require at least 100 shirts ordered for CMYK printing.
What I normally suggest to customers is taking the image and converting it into black and white, allowing us to print it in one color with halftones on either a black shirt, or white shirt. The photo can still look realistic, but the process is by far much easier than CMYK printing. What we do is convert the photo into greyscale in Photoshop, then bitmap it into halftones and burn it onto a screen. The halftone comes out onto the screen in the shapes of dots, and the closer the dots are to one another the darker the print will be. As the dots start to further themselves from one another the lighter the print will be, which will allow the shirt color to come through and display the image.
